This exciting program is designed to provide children with an immersive and hands-on experience in the world of sculpture and clay art. Our camp offers a variety of materials and techniques to allow children to explore and express their creativity in a supportive environment.
The camp will begin with a focus on pottery wheel techniques, where children will have the opportunity to work with moist clay and spin it into beautiful and functional objects using a pottery wheel. We will provide guidance and support to help each child create their unique pieces. We will also focus on hand-building techniques, such as pinch pots, coils, and slabs. We will fire our pottery in a kiln and glaze our work to create lasting keepsakes!
In addition to working with the pottery wheel, we will also explore air-dry clay. This versatile and easy-to-use medium can be molded and shaped into a wide range of forms, including animals, mini foods, and anything else your imagination can conjure.
We will also use oven-bake polymer clay to create mini sculptures and functional objects, such as jewelry, keychains, holders, and more.
We will use wood and found objects in combination with other materials to create unique and interesting sculptures. And, let's make papier mache!!
In addition to the hands-on sculpture and clay experiences, the camp will also include informative sessions on the history and art of sculpture and clay.
At the end of the camp, children will have the opportunity to showcase their work in a final exhibit, where friends and family can see their beautiful creations.
