The Voluntary Prekindergarten Program (VPK) provided by Volusia County Schools in partnership with the Early Learning Coalition and the Florida Division of Early Learning offers free educational opportunities for 4-year-olds to help them prepare for kindergarten. The program includes three hours of free VPK daily, funded by the Early Learning Coalition, with the option for families to choose a full-day, tuition-based program at designated schools.
Key points to note about the program:
- Eligibility: Children must be 4 years old by September 1st of the current school year.
- Free VPK hours: Families can receive three free VPK hours daily, but there is also an option for a full-day program that requires payment.
- Tuition Assistance: Families attending a Title I school may be eligible for tuition assistance. For more details, families should contact the VPK school site registrar.
- Registration: Families must obtain a valid Certificate of Eligibility from the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia Counties to register. This can be done online through their website.
- Transportation: Parents or guardians are responsible for providing transportation to and from the VPK program.

VPK/Title I classroom units depend on sufficient student enrollment and the availability of federal funds for the new school year. VCS reserves the right to close classroom units if enrollment and funding do not meet the required needs for each classroom.
