How You Can Help

By Danielle Brogan, publisher of Mac KID West Volusia - Deltona, FL October 10, 2022

While the impacts of Hurricane Ian are evident in and around our community, none is more apparent than that of the flooding that remains in parts of our community as Deltona.

There are so many great people who gave to those in need, they helped where they knew they could. An example of one such wonderful person is Carmen, owner of Sweet and Salao by Chef Carmen LLC. She collected clothes, food, baby items and bathroom items as shown below and distributed it to those she felt needed it.

Carmen is just one of the many heroes that is finding a way to help in her community.

Dana McCool is a local hero that runs Deltona Strong. They are currently accepting donations of Sandbags and Volunteers for families in need as well. Deltona and parts of central Florida are continuing to have flood water impact their homes. As the waters rise, more homes are seeing the impact and being flooded. Dana is out in the neighborhood, continuing to help the elderly residents and those wishing to remain in their homes. "Deltona Strong will have complete transparency with donations and donors can follow the donation on the website." stated Dana McCool. They are a known and established 501-3C in the community.

Efforts persist to collect more clothes, food, and other personal items for the community. The list of items can be found below. Yes, Deltona and Central Florida are still in need, many families have been displaced until the flooding both stops and recedes. Even then, the damage to the homes will need to be assessed. Please keep these families in our community in your thoughts. Also, your donation will help in ways that donated items cannot.

It is also worth asking any local shelters if they need any help with relief efforts.
