City of DeLand Tree Giveaway

April 10, 2018

(DeLand, FL) – Hundreds of trees are awaiting their new homes as the City of DeLand and DeLand Breakfast Rotary Club prepare for the annual Tree Giveaway.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 21, residents within the city’s Utility Service Area will be able to begin picking up trees from the city’s Public Works Complex, 1102 S. Garfield Avenue. Vehicles will enter from Amelia Avenue and follow the signs to the giveaway area.

People are asked to bring proof of residence, while those picking up trees for others are asked to bring the person’s written request and a copy of the other person’s proof of residence. Residents are asked to have the giveaway form filled out to make the process quicker.

Also, this year residents will be allowed to pick four trees per residence (one more than previous years) and a maximum of eight per vehicle.

Some of the species of trees include Bald Cypress, Blue Beech, Chickasaw Plum, Chinquapin, Elderberry, Live Oak, Parsley Haw, Redbud, Snowbell, Sweetgum, Tabebuia (Yellow) and Winged Elm. Quantities and types of trees are subject to change and some are more limited than others.

No advanced reservations will be taken. All trees will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis.
