Back 2 School Safety Event

July 24, 2017
The Deltona Fire Department has teamed up with the Florida Department of Health and other community partners to bring a Back-2-School Safety Day to Deltona families on Aug. 6. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Deltona City Hall, 2345 Providence Blvd. “The idea for this day was to try to give our residents an enjoyable day of getting their children ready to return to school,” said Deputy Fire Chief Bush Swisher.

The original partner for the event, the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County will provide free school physicals and immunizations. Other partners have come on board to make this event a fun and important event for families. Children should bring their bikes for a safety check and for instruction on our bike rodeo course from members of the Deltona Fire Department Bike Team and from staff from JC’s Bike Shop, DeLand. Moms and dads can have their car seats and booster seats evaluated to see if they are properly installed and appropriate in size for the passengers riding in them. Eye exams and vision screening will be offered along with free haircuts and school supplies. Finger printing will be available from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Students must be present to receive school supplies (while supplies last). There will also be free food and beverages for attendees. The OneBlood bus will be at City Hall accepting donations.~

There will be static displays and informational and educational presentations throughout the day on water safety, fire safety, cross walk safety and more. Come and join us for some fun at our Back-2-School Safety Day.
